Rangers

The exact reason why Rangers play in 'Royal Blue' is not known, but the team wore the color for the first time in 1872. Since then, Rangers have been blue every year – with one exception. In the 1882 season, the team played in horizontally striped blue and white shirts, known as 'hoops'. This means that Rangers actually had their stripes six years before Celtic was founded. However, the 1882 season was a sporting failure, and as a result, Rangers' members voted to return to the solid blue shirt.
