Fiorentina

Fiorentina originally played in red and white shirts, the traditional colors of the city of Florence. However, in 1929, a mistake occurred when the match shirts were washed in the Arno River – the colors mixed, and together with the black shorts, a purple shade was created. Another version is that Fiorentina's founder, the fascist leader Luigi Ridolfi, became fond of the purple color after his team played a friendly match against Hungarian side Újpest FC in the autumn of 1928.
